Training
Even with the world's best tools at your
disposal, you will really not be able to leverage 100% benefit from these without
training. There are some specific areas of training that you should master
- Training on the Tools (Software, Technical
Analysis)
- How to Trade (methodologies)
As powerful as they are, most of the advanced software
analysis tools on the market today do have a learning curve in terms of becoming fully
productive with them. For those people that enjoy reading manuals, they can probably get
by without any external training. For the rest of us, training courses can reduce the time
to become productive from months (or years) to days.
We believe training in most cases to be extremely valuable
for many other reasons. Firstly, there are many features
incorporated in analysis
software programs that, whilst being a little difficult at first to master, can save many
hours of labour in the daily analysis process of most traders.
An example of this is the Explorer function within
MetaStock. Whilst many traders are forced to view hundreds of charts a night to see if
their particular technical trading conditions are met, a trader experienced with the
MetaStock Explorer and Language can program a scan to automatically find these same stocks
in minutes each evening.
Also, 'How to Trade' courses deal with the
logic and emotions behind trading. The idea here is to learn from other people's sometimes costly
mistakes and as such, hopefully avoid you falling over these errors yourself. Areas
that should be covered here are key points such as
- Trading Psychology
- Risk
- Money Management
Knowledge in all of the areas above can substantially
decrease the time required to become an effective trader, in addition to reducing your
risks in the process.
